From 6 to 13 May 2023 24 students of the current media class 2 CK together with their home room teacher Prof. Andrea Tauber and English teacher Prof. Beatrix Kaiser-Gnan spent a week in Ireland. We were staying with host families in Malahide and attended morning classes in the city centre of Dublin. During class time we designed apps and interviewed people in the street, had discussions with our Irish teachers and finally gave presentations about our app-ideas and Irish experience.
A visit at the EPIC emigration museum and the Jeannie Johnston famine boat gave us insights into the Irish history, Croke Park Stadium and a training session in Gaelic Football and Hurling brought us closer to Irish sports spirits, as did our night out in the bowling alley. We talked about politics and culture with the Austrian Ambassador at his private residence in Dublin and about economics with the representative of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. In between we enjoyed Dublin’s shopping streets and did our own selfie challenge on Dublin sights. To round up our visit we went on the Howth Cliff walk and finally spent our last evening at the beach in Malahide.
The weather was less Irish than we thought and in the end we had covered about 100 km of walking and laughing and looking and talking and getting to know this fabulous island and its people, who are simply COOD CRAIC! (Check out the meaning yourselves! It’s worth it!)
